Dr. Sharon Weiselfish-Giammatteo, Ph.D., P.T., I.M.T.,c.
Dr. Sharon W. Giammatteo is President of CenterIMT, Center of Integrative Manual Therapy and Diagnostics, including Regional Physical Therapy in Connecticut. CenterIMT is a network of health care clinics providing manual therapy and rehabilitation in the United States, Canada and Europe.
Dr. Sharon W. Giammatteo earned a PhD from Union Institute, investigating manual and cranial therapies for the neurologic client; an undergraduate degree in Advanced Health Sciences and Medicine and a graduate degree in Clinical Neurosciences from The University of Hartford; and an advanced physical therapy degree from Wingate Institute of Physiotherapy, Netanya, Israel.
Dr. W. Giammatteo is President of Dialogues in Contemporary Rehabilitation (DCR), the learning, resource and research center for IMT™ in Connecticut. DCR presents over 150 seminars around the world each year. Their authorized Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy is situated in Bloomfield, CT.
Dr. W. Giammatteo developed Integrative Manual Therapy™, the Integrated Systems Approach™ and Integrative Diagnostics™. She has taught on 5 continents as an expert in orthopedics, chronic pain, pediatrics, neurologic and geriatric rehabilitation.
Dr. Thomas Giammatteo, D.C., P.T., I.M.T., C.
Dr. Thomas Giammatteo is CEO of CenterIMT. He received his Doctorate of Chiropractic Medicine from the National College of Chiropractic and earned a Certificate of Meridian Therapy and Acupuncture. He also has an undergraduate degree in both Physical Therapy and Human Biology.
In addition to his teaching fellowship, Dr. Giammatteo was a clinical specialist in Orthopedic and Neurologic Rehabilitation for the National College of Chiropractic. He has also taught and lectured at Northeastern University, Perdue University, and hospitals in Illinois and Connecticut. He was also on staff for three years at the Upledger Institute’s Healthplex Clinic and Brain & Spinal Cord Dysfunction Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Dr. Giammatteo currently practices at CenterIMT locations in Bloomfield, CT and Albuquerque, NM, specializing in sport medicine, orthopedic, neurologic, pediatric and medical patients. As a faculty member of Dialogues in Contemporary Rehabilitation (DCR), he teaches international postgraduate workshops in Muscle Energy and Strain/Counterstrain Techniques, utilizing his multidisciplinary knowledge and experience in biomechanics and joint mobilization.
Ayelet Connell-Giammatteo, P.T., I.M.T., C.
Ayelet Connell-Giammatteo is a Partner of CenterIMT, Inc. She is the Practice Manager of CenterIMT Headquarters in Bloomfield, CT. In addition, Ayelet is the Director of Product Development for Dialogues in Contemporary Rehabilitation (DCR) and The Connecticut School of IMT (CSIMT). She is The Director of the Mentorship Program at DCR and CSIMT. In this role, Ayelet supports the development of clinical skills and critical thinking in students of IMT worldwide. She has been teaching for DCR and CSIMT nationally and internationally for over 10 years.
Clinically, Ayelet is the Director of Pediatrics for CenterIMT, Inc. She graduated from the University of Hartford with a degree in Physical Therapy. She has been practicing in the field of IMT for over 15 years. Ayelet is nearing the end of her doctoral studies in the field of Autism. In addition to her clinical and administrative roles, Ayelet has been the primary medical illustrator for the IMT text books.
Susan Leger, DS, MS, PT, NDTC, IMTC
Dr. Susan Leger is the Director of Neurologic Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT) for all CentersIMT, worldwide, and is General Manager at her home base at CenterIMT Atlanta. She is an instructor for both the Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy and Westbrook University.
Dr. Leger is a Neuroscience Specialist with a Doctor of Science (DS) degree in Health Science and Nutrition from Westbrook University (2004). She received her BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Florida in 1979, and her MS in Exercise Physiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation from Louisiana State University in 1985. She has received in-depth Neurodevelopment Treatment training (NDT certified), as well as extensive education in a wide range of other therapeutic models such as Acupressure, Cranial Therapies, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Mechanical Link, Mobilization, Motor Control, Motor Learning, Polarity, Proprioceptive Neuromotor Facilitation, Sensory Integration and Praxis, Visceral Manipulation, and Zero Balancing.
Dr. Leger has been directly trained by the developer of IMT, Dr. Sharon W. Giammatteo. She has advanced her expertise in IMT to the highest level, being the first to complete her Doctorate degree with an IMT emphasis. Dr. Leger’s doctoral dissertation is titled “The Effects of Integrative Manual Therapy on Spinal Cord Injury Recovery.” Susan’s other publications include: Significant Functional Gains Using Integrative Manual Therapy with a Patient Diagnosed with Cerebellar Ataxia and Peripheral Demylination; Lower Extremity Biomechanical Checklist for the Neurologically Involved; Taping Applications for the Neurologically Involved; and Exercise Risks and Benefits for Diabetic Individuals: A Review. Susan is currently working on a book titled Spinal Cord Injury Recovery: A Guide For Never Evers.
Dr. Leger has taught over 180 post graduate level workshops on assessment, handling and movement, lower extremity biomechanics, gait, and the fabrication and function of lower extremity casting, splinting, and orthotic design throughout the U.S. and in 5 other countries. She has taught the full spectrum of IMT courses available, from entry level to the most advanced. In addition, she has been a speaker at numerous state, regional, and national conferences.
Susan lives in Fayetteville, Georgia with her two dogs and two cats, and is extremely proud of her three accomplished children. She is a weekend golfer and tennis player, as well as a scuba diver, zip-liner, cruiser, and overall world traveler.
