Sensory Assimilation
The goal of Sensory Assimilation is to rekindle a person’s sensory receptors and feedback pathways. This exceptional approach couples external demand stimulation with critical internal structural integrity work and physiologic electrical stimulation. First Step Physical Therapy’s Fall Prevention Program uniquely addresses balance and movement, by enhancing the communication between the three primary balance centers (eyes, cerebellum, and the vestibular mechanisms adjacent to the ears) with the joint receptors of the body. Once the anatomy and physiology of the neural structures are influenced internally, the sensory external stimulations are coordinated with exercise. Brushing, pressure, compression, vibration, friction, joint mobilization, large and small gymnastic balls and the Power Plate total body vibratory system are just a part of Sensory Assimilation’s external demand program that are specifically sequenced with Stage and Phase Exercise Progression.
